Precautions for use of laser rangefinder

2023-02-20

The optical sensor with amplification function inside the basic optical technology diode can detect extremely weak optical signals. As long as the time from the sending of the optical pulse to the receiving is recorded and processed, the target distance can be measured. So what are the precautions for the use of the laser rangefinder? Let's have a look.

Laser rangefinder sensor: first, aim the laser diode at the target to emit laser pulse, the laser reflected by the target scatters in all directions, and part of the emitted light returns to the sensor light receiver, which is received by the optical system, and is imaged on the equipment on the avalanche photodiode. The avalanche photodiode is an optical sensor with internal amplification function, so it can detect extremely weak optical signals, The target distance can be measured by recording and processing the time from the sending of the optical pulse to the receiving. What are the precautions for using the laser rangefinder? Let's have a look.

1、 Precautions for use of laser rangefinder equipment

On the other hand, wrong measurement results may occur when using faulty equipment, equipment subject to strong impact, equipment misused and modified equipment.

Precautions:

1. Check the instrument regularly. Especially after the equipment is not in normal use, or before and after important measurement.

2. Please pay attention to the cleanliness and integrity of the lens.

2、 Measurement precautions:

When measuring or positioning dynamic targets, such as lifting trucks, building machinery or platforms, and unexpected reasons may produce incorrect measurement results.

Please use the equipment used as measuring equipment, not as control equipment. In case of unexpected situations such as wrong measurement, fault, sudden power failure, etc., the operating system also needs to take safety measures (safety limit switch and other equipment), which is set to not cause loss.

3、 Do not use the laser range finder to directly aim at the surface of the object reflecting the sun and light (metal, mirror, prism, etc.), and hurt your eyes.

Precautions:

1. Rough surface

Before measuring the rough surface such as mortar wall, aim the lamp at the target to be measured. In order not to measure rough surfaces, use target plates or boards.

2. The surface layer is transparent

In order to avoid measuring errors, do not measure towards the surface of transparent objects such as colorless liquids (such as water) and glass). For unfamiliar materials and liquids, users can test and calibrate them first.

3. Wet, smooth or high-gloss surface

The signal received by the laser ranging sensor is too weak, and it is also possible to detect the target distance irradiated by the reflected laser.

Do not attempt to measure shiny specular reflections. The signal received by the laser ranging sensor may be too strong, and the service life of the equipment will be shortened if it is used for a long time.

4. Bevel or circular plane

The measurement can only be carried out when the target area is large enough to accommodate the laser spot.

5. multipath reflection

If the laser returned from other objects exceeds the reflected light of the target, please avoid various reflectors on the measuring light path.
