High Pecision 3D Electronic Compass

STA-HD-805 Mini 3D Electronic Compass consists of a 3-axis magnetic sensor, a 3-axis accelerometer, and a microprocessor. It incorporates algorithms for calculating pitch, roll, and heading angles, and features compensation and correction for soft/hard magnetic interference, providing high-precision attitude measurement. It outputs three-dimensional angular data: heading, pitch, and roll. It is widely used in fields requiring orientation and navigation, such as aviation, maritime navigation, drilling measurement, and military applications.

Compass Installation Environmental Requirements & Recommendations

a) Before using the compass, it is recommended to perform magnetic field calibration to improve heading measurement accuracy. If the magnetic environment changes or measurement accuracy becomes unsatisfactory, recalibrate the compass promptly. b) For optimal heading accuracy, install the compass on a platform as far away from magnetic interference as possible. Although the STA-HD-805 can calibrate for soft and hard magnetic interference present on the platform, greater interference will result in poorer post-calibration heading accuracy.

c) Avoid installing the compass on platforms or in environments with alternating magnetic interference. The compass can only effectively correct for static soft and hard magnetic interference, not alternating magnetic interference. Therefore, choose an installation location as far away as possible from sources of alternating magnetic fields, such as motors, engines, AC power lines, transformers, and various electromagnetic switches.


d) The compass cannot perform precise measurements on platforms experiencing vibration, shaking, or non-stationary motion.
